Coatings & Colorants
As a leading supplier of Crosslinkers polyesters, performance resins and colorants, Evonik Degussa AG Coatings & Colorants Business Unit focuses on paints, coatings, print inks, adhesives and seal industries. With its headquarters located in Mari, Germany, said Business Unit is staffed by 1.700 employees spread around 10 production plants, and generates annual sales for M 699.
The areas of Crosslinkers applications include solvent free coatings for industrial floors, light stable and climate resistant paints, and auto-refinish for cars, and crosslinking of powder coatings, e.g. for ornamental protection against corrosion. Polyesters are used in hard coatings, though flexible enough for coils and cans (coil and can coatings), for exterior construction, cans and dashboards. Besides, they are used in industrial adhesives. Performance Resins improve the adhesion and flux of coatings and adhesive systems, and provide a shiny and long playing protection against corrosion.
Colorants Business Line includes industrial colorants, also applied in architecture, as well as colorant and aid systems for sale.
To mention one example, just twelve colorants and four different white bases allow over 1.000 shades to be mixed either in plant or at the sales outlets.
In compliance with sustainable principles of development, the investigation of future oriented technologies plays an important role in Coatings & Colorants Business Unit. For instance, the combination of tecnologías de polvos libres de emisión y de curado con radiación at low temperatures provides a friendly environmental solution, likewise highly effective for the customer. We are developing environment friendly universal colorants and colour systems, which are also free of volatile organic components (VOC). We are working close to our partners and customers at different development levels and creating marketable and intelligent systems, linking and joining individual strengths within Evonik Degussa Team.
